After analysing the nearly 100 orders we have received so far for our forthcoming Pannier model, and after discussion with our manufacturer, we have decided to make the following alterations to the options on offer.
Overall, the changes mean that more choice will be available to everyone, but at the same time, enables us to simplify production.
The changes are as follows:
- The option for the GW green livery with roundel is withdrawn, and these models will be available in unlettered form, to enable either the shirtbutton or the large G W R to be added by the purchaser. The half dozen or so orders we have already for the shirtbutton option will be honoured by applying a suitable transfer here in the UK, so those who have already ordered need not worry!
- We had originally intended for most models to have the later ‘tidy’ version of injectors, with the overflow pipe disappearing through a hole in the footplate, and then running behind the valence to emerge behind the cab steps. We were then going to offer a small batch of models with the overflow pipe running over the footplate and then on the outside of the valence, dropping down in front of the cab steps. Examination of more photographs has shown that this latter injector pipework was much more common than we had first envisaged, and we have decided that all models will come with this version of the injector pipework fitted. Happily the ‘tidy’ version will be also available for all models, but as a separate add-on part.
To show what we mean, please look at the two photographs, that of 3788 shows the type now to be fitted to all models, and 3607 that of the much simpler and tidier pipe run, to be fitted if required by the purchaser.
Order forms will be changed, but if you have one of the original ones, please amend it accordingly.
